- Finished sail size (width)
- Clear width minus 5 cm
- Sail size (length)
- same as the roof depth
- Example
- Glass 683 mm, rounded up 69 cm, clear width 66 cm, sail 61 × 350 cm
- Installation direction 1
- under or on surfaces, ceilings, balcony and similar
- Installation direction 2
- between walls, balcony and similar
- Spacing of the track hooks (examples)
- 420 cm: about 26.2 cm; 330 cm: about 27.3 cm; 270 cm: about 29.7 cm; 140 cm: about 20.0 cm
01 Preparation
1.1 Check the kit for completeness and transport damage.
1.2 Lay out the tools: small Phillips screwdriver and tape measure. To tension the cables you also need an open-end spanner.
1.3 Determine the clear width: round the glass width up to the next centimetre and subtract 3 cm.
Tip: Example from the instructions: glass 683 mm is rounded up to 69 cm, minus 3 cm gives a clear width of 66 cm.
1.4 Determine the finished sail size: subtract 5 cm from the clear width. The sail length equals the roof depth.
Tip: Example from the instructions: 66 cm minus 5 cm gives a sail width of 61 cm, so 61 × 350 cm for a roof depth of 350 cm.
02 Track hooks on the sail
2.1 Lay the shade sail flat on the workbench.
2.2 Calculate the spacing of the track hooks from their number. Allow for the edge hem on both sides.
Tip: Examples from the instructions: for a sail length of 420 cm about 26.2 cm, for 330 cm about 27.3 cm, for 270 cm about 29.7 cm, for 140 cm about 20.0 cm spacing.
2.3 Insert the fabric into the first track hook as far as it will go.
2.4 Fix the track hook at the marked position: drive the screw in from above and tighten it.
Caution: Make sure it sits at a right angle. Crooked track hooks slide poorly.
2.5 Attach all further track hooks on this side in the same way, at the calculated spacing.
2.6 Attach all track hooks on the second long side of the sail in the same way.
03 Tension the cables and hang the sail
3.1 Choose the suitable installation direction: variant 1 under or on surfaces, ceilings and balcony, variant 2 between walls. Then install as specified.
3.2 Set the first fixing point: install the two holders for the first cable.
3.3 Push the first stainless steel cable deep into the holders.
3.4 Tension the first cable with the open-end spanner.
3.5 Hang the shade sail with the track hooks, turned by 90°, onto the tensioned cable.
3.6 Use the sail as a measuring tape: the position of the second cable is at the other edge of the sail.
3.7 Set the second fixing point: install the two holders for the second cable.
3.8 Push the second stainless steel cable deep into the holders.
3.9 Tension the second cable with the open-end spanner.
3.10 Finally, hang the track hooks of the second sail side onto the second cable.
04 Care
4.1 Lightly grease the stainless steel cable from time to time: put a few drops of bicycle or sewing machine oil on a cloth and pull it along the cable.
Tip: The track hooks then slide more easily.
4.2 The shade sail is washable, together with the track hooks: at 40 °C.
4.3 The stainless steel cable is easy to shorten.
Check the kit immediately for completeness and transport damage. Always push the cable deep into the holder. Electrical work (if any) only by qualified installers.
